While decorating my new apartment bedroom I thought about the vibe I wanted my room to have. Definitely spooky, with touches of old world elegance. Collecting beautiful pieces with skulls and other spooky aspects is something I can typically only do during October. However, every year during Halloween time I rummage through T.J. Maxx, Homegoods, and Marshall’s for the perfect spooky and elegant decor!
Creating a space where I can display my own personality made decorating super fun! Pinterest is the best place to cultivate decor vibes as well as other fun DIY ideas for your apartment or bedroom. I currently have a bedroom Pinterest board as well as a spooky vibes Pinterest board where I can sort through items to create a mood for my room.
I’m currently working on a spooky gallery wall, and will post on the finished project! I’d love to see other room decor vibes as well so make sure to comment your style! I’ve often thought my spooky and elegant style was hard to work with, but once I started to collect specific items for my room everything came together.
I wanted to share this recipe from The Moon Juice Cookbook because of how amazing and simple it is! I’m an avid coconut milk or almond milk drinker, and finding this super simple recipe for cashew milk was a BLESSING!
You can use almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, or cashews (or even a blend of a couple different ones)!
Nut Milk Recipe
1. Fill a bowl with water and soak nuts in it overnight, in your fridge
2. Drain the liquid from the nuts and then place the nuts in your blender with fresh water
3. Blend for a couple of seconds, be sure not to overblend because you’ll have little pieces of nuts in your milk
4. Strain the mixture with either a cheesecloth, or I used a french press!
5. ENJOY! It’ll last in the fridge for up to 4 days!
I also love LIVE FOR the blueprint cold pressed juice cashew milk so I put some other ingredients into my cashew milk. I put a couple dashes of cinnamon, a date, agave, and vanilla extract! SO DELICIOUS!
Let me know what you think of this recipe or what other types of nut milk blends you’ve tried!
For an everyday look, I like to keep it light and glowy! Here’s a list of the products I use almost every single day in the order I apply them! I didn’t include my favorite brow product I use everyday, but if you want to read about that then check out my other post on Brow Products.
1. Shiseido Pureness Matifying Moisturizer – I like to use this as my primer!
2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla
3. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder
4. Too Faced Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer
5. Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner – Sometimes I opt not to wear eyeliner! Either way is tres chic!
6. Maybelline Mega Plush Volum’ Express Mascara
7. MAC Lipstick in Taupe – The taupe shade is my favorite! My lips are naturally dark, and this shade is two shades darker than my natural lip color! A nude lip is ALWAYS chic!
The first product I’ve recently purchased is the Anatomy of a Fragrance Honey Rose Perfume, which is HEAVENLY!! Another rose product that I’m obsessed with is the Rosewater spray I purchased from Whole Foods. I like to spray this product on my face before makeup, after makeup, and throughout the day! I always feel super refreshed after using it!
The It Cosmetics CC Your Skin But Better Illuminating Cream has been a life saver for me! I use it almost everyday because I feel like it brightens up my skin even when I’m tired! Another skin care product I’ve just started using is the Bioderma Micellar Cleansing Water. When I take my makeup off at the end of the day (or if I’m too lazy to actually wash my face) I just use the micellar water with a cotton pad to cleanse my face quickly! The Vaseline Pink Bubbly Lip Balm is another product I love to use at the end of the day. Honestly, it smells exactly like a sparkling pink champagne which is why it’s my newest favorite.
Recently, I’ve also gotten my hair dyed and I want to keep it looking fresh until my next haircut! My stylist recommended the Kevin Murphy Shampoo and Conditioner in the Plumping Wash. The smell is so sweet and light because it’s formulated with ginger root and nettle extracts!
Finally, I’ve just started trying out more Korean skincare products. The TonyMoly Intense Care Snail Hydro-gel Mask has become one of my favorites. Sheet masking is such a fun part of my weekly routine! I’ll take 20 minutes while taking a break from homework or studying to sheet mask, which is such a treat!

Originally from Los Angeles, California, I moved to Chicago thinking about how cool it would be to experience a REAL city with REAL subway systems and REAL life on my own. I completely forgot about the different climate part. Buying winter clothes in California was easier than I thought it would be, because of the outlets near Camarillo that sell items for people taking vacations to ski or snowboard. Shopping for winter clothes still seemed fun at the time (because who doesn’t want a new wardrobe!?)
Here is a list of tips I’ve learned from the past few winters I’ve experience without ever have been in snow before moving…
1. BUY A MINI SPACE HEATER!
Even if your building has heat, you save so much more money with a mini space heater! I got mine from Amazon and literally found it so much easier to EXIST with one.
2. BUNDLE YOSELF!
Layering is a MUST!! Honestly, I probably wear leggings, jeans, boots at the same time. I ALSO pack on a tank top, long sleeve, puffy winter coat, and gloves. ALWAYS HAVE GLOVES WITH YOU.
3. TRAVEL TEA MUGS
Dragging myself to class when there’s snow outside is the hardest thing for me! I’ve even decided this coming winter quarter to take one online class so I only have to walk to three classes. Bringing hot tea with me in those cute David’s Tea or Teavana tea tumblers is like a reward for going through all that cold weather.
4. TANNING SALONS
I’ve noticed that every winter, with less sun, I get a little more moody or sad. My first winter in Chicago I was talking to my mom about it and she suggested that I go to a tanning salon. I know this sounds so weird but keep reading. So, I went into the tanning salon and laid in the bed with the lowest setting for the least amount of time (15 minutes I think) and felt REVIVED AFTER. Being from California, I’m used to sun all year long and without it I get so cranky!
5. KEEP BUSY
My final tip might be a no-brainer to some, but it took me a while to realize. Being cooped up inside really gets your stress and anxiety levels up sometimes. Picking a new hobby or craft that you can enjoy indoors really helps lower those stress levels. Last year, while drowning in both Chemistry and Biology class homework loads, I figured out that I’m really interested in trying new recipes! I love cooking, who knew?
